On April 30th Hull Services celebrated the groundbreaking of a new purpose built facility at our main campus for the Preadolescent Treatment Program. Construction of this facility is thanks to an extraordinary $5 million gift from Mrs. Leslie Bissett, a Hull Services volunteer and noted philanthropist. The building will be known as Mike’s House as a symbolic gesture in recognition of a child she has deep concern about whose family struggled to find the expert services required to meet his needs.
This leading edge program is designed to increase the ability of children who have been traumatized due to abuse, neglect, and other adverse experiences. Using a trauma informed approach known as the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, children move from a state of high stress and anxiety to a calmer, more functional existence, where they can then learn and acquire new skills to help them improve connections to family, communities, and culture.
