Partnership with Private Practice Child Psychiatrists

Hull Services is a trauma informed agency, and a Flagship Site for the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics.   We partner with young people and families who are in need of intervention due to past trauma and present challenges, building resilience today for a brighter tomorrow.  Our vision:  Resilient young people and families thriving within communities that support their mental health and well-being.

About the Partnership

Hull is seeking partnerships with private practice Child Psychiatrists to serve the needs of our diverse population of clients within our Therapeutic Campus Based Care Programs in Calgary, Alberta.   Interested psychiatrists would work with our clients on a part time basis, building their own practice, and would have the consultation and support of the Hull staff for each patient that they see at Hull Services.  The psychiatrist would meet with patients on site within their Therapeutic Campus Based Care programs, with Hull staff arranging the appointments as the psychiatrist deems necessary (e.g., 1x a week during assessment and medication changes, or 1x a month for continued consultation and follow up, meetings with family members and/or children services guardians).

Hull staff would be responsible for gathering relevant information and updating the psychiatrist about how the child is doing, prior to the psychiatrist’s meeting with the patient.  In many programs, the clients remain in the program for approximately 1 year; as a result, with psychiatry as part of the multidisciplinary team, there are unique opportunities to work closely with staff to implement appropriate changes in medication administration and provide feedback regarding their effectiveness, stabilize the young person psychiatrically, and to be involved in consultation and treatment planning to ensure the appropriateness of therapeutic interventions being provided in the milieu based setting. Our on-site nursing staff can provide ongoing support to psychiatry, assisting with medical assessment, medication management and tracking of medication side effects
